Points to Ponder

Politics. I am no expert in this subject. So how can people like me know what makes a true leader? Well, I’ve decided to compile quotations from the “great thinkers” of the past and present generation to help people understand the essence of leadership. I hope these quotations will cut through the fogginess of life today and open our eyes wide. I hope readers will focus on what was spoken rather than who spoke it.

So without further adieu…

Any change is resisted because bureaucrats have a vested interest in the chaos in why they exist. – RICHARD NIXON

The very essence of leadership is that you have to have vision. You can’t blow an uncertain trumpet. –THEODORE HESBURGH

Leadership is a combination of strategy and character. If you must be without one, be without the strategy. – H. NORMAN SCHWARZKOPF

One of the tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency. – ARNOLD GLASGOW

Motivation is everything. You can do the work of two people, but you can’t be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy down the line and get him to inspire his people. – LEE IACOCCA

The way to get things done is not to mind who gets the credit for doing them. – BENJAMIN JOWETT

Without initiative, leaders are simply workers in leadership positions. – BO BENNETT

You get the best out of others when you give the best of yourself. – HARRY FIRESTONE

My grandfather once told me that there were two kinds of people: those who do the work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was much less competition. – INDIRA GANDHI

The people come first. – MEL MATHAY

Best regards to all the candidates! I hope they'll live by to whatever vision or quotation they believe in. We need leaders who are more than committed in their work and honest and fears the Creator.
